Hi my name is Sarah and I am a 49 year old wife and mother of 5.
I am in my last year studying toward a Diploma in Information and Library Studies with Open Polytechnic New Zealand. I have had struggles and challenges through my journey as an adult student but have cemented in my mind that this is the right career choice for me and that I have far more capabilities than I ever gave myself credit for. I have and still am learning a lot about myself and look forward to continuing to grow with my continued journey of “Life Long Learning”. This blog is part of my current paper and an exciting edition to my continued adventure.
I work as a full time Primary School Librarian and consider myself so lucky and blessed to go to work in the most incredibly rewarding and inspiring environment one could ask for. I love my job and all that it entails. I have been in this role for 8 years now and the joy of coming to work each day never diminishes.
I am completely new to blogging having never ventured into this area before. It is having its challenges which I am still tweeking as I go. I have also never written shared reviews before so am enjoying the process here too. Two new chapters in my learning journey.
I have a huge joy and passion for reading, and especially love books for children and YA. I am also lucky to work in a brand new modern library were going to work still feels a little dream like, plus I have access to many new and classic children’s books everyday – bliss!
I have a growing passion for “Makerspace” in libraries and am investigating this area more with plans to introduce this into our new Modern Library Learning environment (MLLE).
I hope you enjoy my reviews of Children’s and YA books and hopefully you may be inspired to pick up one or two and read for yourself.
“You see, I don’t believe that libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that’s been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians.”
